Leading House article "Different degrees of skill obsolescence across hard and soft skills and the role of lifelong learning for labor market outcomes" by Tobias Schultheiss and Uschi Backes-Gellner, made it to Top Cited 2023 Papers of the Journal Industrial Relations.

The article examines how lifelong learning helps counteracting skill depreciation and obsolescence. It reveals that lifelong learning helps to stay technologically up-to-date and prevent unemployment in hard-skill-intensive occupations with fast skill depreciating. In contrast, in soft-skill occupations lifelong learning supports upward career mobility and wage growth.
