Mobility and Long-Term Career Perspectives of Apprentices

Due to the rapid technological changes and the forces of globalization, the structure of the labor market and especially the demand for skilled labor has increased considerably. This leads us to expect significant changes of the mobility patterns of apprentices over the last decades. Therefore the project addresses two main questions: First, we would like to know if the education to work transition has changed during the last 20 years for people having undertaken an apprenticeship education. This will also incorporate comparisons between apprentices and university graduates or low skilled employees. Second, we will investigate changes in mobility patterns of apprentices even at later stages of their careers.
