Complementarities between Vocational Education and Continuing Training
Previous studies found differences in the cost/ benefits ratios between apprenticeships and infer thereof different training strategies (Schweri et al. 2003, Beicht et al. 2004, Wolter et al. 2006, Wolter 2008, Dionisius et al. 2009). In our study we will investigate complementarities between apprenticeship training strategies and other human resource management policies. We will also study whether such complementarities affect the economic outcomes of a company, i.e. lead to a higher productivity, reduce the lay-offs or affect the rent distribution between shareholders and workers. In other words, we analyse complementarities between firm (skill) strategies (Milgrom and Roberts 1992, Huselid and Becker 1996, Ichniowski et al 1997).
