Background:
Madison completed an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a master’s degree in higher education administration at Louisiana State University, and both a master’s degree in economics and a PhD in education at Stanford University. During her studies, she specialized in postsecondary education, equitable access to and outcomes in education, and connections between education and the workforce. Before joining the chair of Prof. Backes-Gellner in March 2025, Madison worked as a researcher for the state of Tennessee (USA) at both its coordinating board for postsecondary education and its system of community colleges and technical colleges.
