Swiss Leading House VPET-ECON

Project Public opinion (continued)

Political attitude towards education and vocational education and training in particular

(Politische Einstellung zur Bildung und speziell zur Berufsbildung)

The Leading House has run so far three large scale surveys of the public opinion on education issues, in particular questions related to vocational education and training in 2007, 2012 and 2015. The last survey has used survey experiments (framing) in order to analyze the impact of information on political preferences. The survey has shown a remarkable preference of the Swiss population for VET relative to academic education (see Cattaneo & Wolter 2016). A comparative article (see Cattaneo & Wolter 2017) summarizes and compares not only results from the three surveys done in Switzerland but also Swiss results with results from similar surveys in the US and in Germany. In the new phase a fourth survey will be launched in 2019.
