Project Labor market transition

Determinants of the transition from apprenticeship training into the labor market” (continuation of the “Dropout project” to the transition into labor market period)

(Determinanten des Übergang von der Berufsausbildung in den Arbeitsmarkt (Fortführung des Projekts „Dropout“ in die Phase nach Abschluss des Berufsausbildung))

Although the determinants of a successful transition from the education system to the labor market have been studied frequently, results are so far inconclusive. Therefore, this project focuses on a special case of labor market transition, namely the transition after successful completion of apprenticeship training into the first job. We are particularly interested in identifying the extent to which the outcome and success of this transition is dependent on the economic preferences of the apprentices. While so far, research has mainly focused on determinants within the socio-economic background of labor market entrants or within the labor, this project additionally accounts for the potential influence of differences in the individual time and risk preferences. To study these effects, we do follow-up surveys with the student cohorts from the former “Dropout project”.
