Professor Edward P. Lazear has passed away

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing away of Professor Edward P. Lazear. He was honorary doctor of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics, member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Business Administration, a regular lecturer in the Leading House course programme, and a highly valued mentor of its doctoral students.

Ed Lazear was a professor of economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution. Ed Lazear was the founder of the field Personnel Economics, and inspired generations of young scientists with his enthusiasm. He won practically any prize in his field. Just recently a new prize in his name was established by the Society of Labor Economists, the Annual Edward P. Lazear Prize – which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of labor economics, devoted a portion of their careers for the benefit of civil society and actively helped shape public policy.

Ed Lazear passed away on November 23, 2020 after short severe illness. Our thoughts are with his family.
