Future Options for an Apprenticeship System in Colorado (USA)

A report by Uschi Backes-Gellner from the Leading House, in collaboration with Katherine Caves and Ursula Renold, both from KOF, explores future options for the apprenticeship program in the US-state of Colorado. To transfer today’s system into a fully integrated vocational education and training (VET) program, the authors recommend (1) a curriculum that covers all competencies learned at work and in school (instead of separated curricula) and (2) a permeable education system. Permeability means providing (i) access to programs based on clear entry conditions and from various starting points and (ii) opportunities for formal programs throughout the education system, covering diverse levels and types of skills and knowledge. The entire report can be downloaded here.
