Project 4.1

Political and societal attitudes toward vocational education and their consequences

In research and in practice it is often feared, that the dual education (vocational) will have a hard time ahead to compete with full-time, academic education, because the latter offers a higher social esteem. The two research questions dealt with in this research project are: a) to analyze the political-societal support for vocational education and the willingness to finance vocational education with public money and b) to deduce the consequences concerning the recruiting of new apprentices. The research will be done with the help of representative surveys of Swiss voters.
